After four busy years on the international house scene, Sumo release their first album "REBOUNCES". It features Sumo's finest remixes of songs by artists like Blaze, Claude Monnet, Truby Trio and A Bossa Eletrica.
Sumo have earned respect from various camps on the club scene. Their music is supported and played worldwide by djs like Gilles Peterson, Dr Bob Jones, Dimitri from Paris, Martin Solveig and Roger Sanchez.
In Sweden the attention has grown after radio hits like Seduao and Supra Sumo, after receiving awards in the categories "best group" and "best single" at the Swedish Deejay Awards and after much appreciated appearances at the Hultsfred Festival. Sumo’s music doesn't sound typically Swedish. Their playfull mix of Latin vibes and Afro beats gives their music a unique, exotic sound. Rough grooves are being backed up by melodies and vocal arrangements that appeal to more people than the genre allows.
We want to make our music available for an audience beyond the clubs, says Combo, one half of Sumo "Of course there will be vinyls with longer edits, and bonus tracks for djs". The title of the album, Rebounces, refers to Sumo's own way of remixing is not just about mixing a song. Most of the times we write something completely new, says Alf Tumble, the other half of the duo. "The ambition, though, is always to make a version that shakes more hips than the original. To give the song a chance to get danced to", Alf finishes.
